LA PINTA ISLAND

Isla Pinta, also known as Abingdon, is a small uninhabited volcanic island, located in the north of the archipelago. Pinta is recognized worldwide for being the original home of the universally famous Lonesome George, a giant and pretty popular Galapagos turtle, who lived in the island and died in June 2012. This island is also home to marine iguanas, gull-tailed gulls, hawks, fur seals, gigant turtles and a large number of other birds and mammals.
