SOUTH PLAZA ISLAND
Española (Hood) is the oldest (3.3 million years) remoted and most distant island of the Archipelago. It is located to the south and represents an essential visit on its journey through the Galapagos Islands due to the large number of endemic species it has.
It´s a small and the most colorful islands formed by the lava of volcano creating a special ecosystem that changes its color from intense green in the rainy season to purple and orange in the dry season. Its famous for has an extraordinary flora like Opuntia cactus, prickly pear trees cactus. This spot is the home for a large number of Galapagos iguanas land, gulls, red-billed tropicbirds, and sea lion colonies.
