Question 1

When is the best season to charter a Private Yacht in the Galapagos?

Accepted Answer

The archipelago offers two distinct sailing windows. December to May is the warm and calm season, with calm seas, clear tropical skies and water temperatures of about 25°C–28°C (77°F–82°F): the premier window for smooth island-hopping, effortless tender transfers, open-water swimming and relaxing on the sun deck. June to November is the cool, marine-rich season: the nutrient-rich Humboldt Current lowers ocean temperatures to about 20°C–23°C (68°F–73°F), making it the targeted season for experienced divers and ocean naturalists seeking whale sharks, hammerheads and massive schools of pelagic life around northern outposts like Darwin and Wolf.

Question 2

How are private flight arrivals and VIP logistics handled upon landing?

Accepted Answer

We coordinate full-service logistics for private jet arrivals (FBO / VIP ground handling) connecting through mainland Ecuador, via Quito (UIO) or Guayaquil (GYE), into Baltra Airport (GPS) or San Cristóbal Airport (SCY). Before touchdown, our shore-side operational team pre-arranges runway slots, customs clearance and direct tarmac escorts. On arrival, guests bypass public terminals and queue times; our local concierge clears all National Park entry documentation and escorts your party by private VIP ground transport to your yacht tender to board the vessel.

Question 3

How does a Private Yacht Charter differ from per-cabin all-inclusive bookings (FITs)?

Accepted Answer

Every vessel in the Galapagos Marine Reserve operates under strict Galapagos National Park Service schedules and site-visit time slots, but a Private Yacht Charter changes how that time is experienced. On shared per-cabin departures (FITs), shore excursions follow a group pace designed for mixed passenger needs. On a Private Yacht Charter, your party has exclusive access to a dedicated National Park Naturalist Guide and yacht crew, and within the authorized visit window you have full flexibility over how your time on shore is spent: focused wildlife photography, guide interpretation adapted to your group's interests, or an unhurried, personalized walk without the delays of a shared group.

Question 4

How flexible are Private Yacht Charter itineraries within the National Park?

Accepted Answer

All vessel routes in the Galapagos Marine Reserve are pre-approved by the National Park Service to regulate site capacity and protect ecosystems. Within your assigned route, a Private Yacht Charter offers operational freedom: your private guide and captain adapt daily timing to your group's pace, and before you set sail our local charter specialists align your vessel loop with your party's focus, whether deep-water diving, family-friendly wildlife landings or photography, so you can visit key sites ahead of or after commercial fleet arrivals.

Question 5

What level of service and dining can guests expect onboard?

Accepted Answer

Our fleet standards reflect those of luxury yachts worldwide. Before departure, our culinary team designs a tailored dining program based on your party's preference sheets, featuring wild-caught local seafood, organic island ingredients, imported delicacies and fine wine pairings. With high crew-to-guest ratios, onboard service is intuitive and discreet, from private beach setups and post-dive hot towel service to alfresco cocktail hours on the sky lounge and evening stargazing from the onboard Jacuzzi.

Question 6

What bespoke activities can be arranged exclusively for a Private Yacht Charter?

Accepted Answer

A Private Yacht Charter unlocks a suite of activities tailored to your party. Ocean and marine adventures: Rendezvous Diving, Catch and Release Fishing in designated offshore zones, Seafaris, Free Diving, Surf and Paddleboard excursions along sheltered mangrove estuaries, and Private Inter-Island Flights (Airfaris). Onboard and island wellness: full-day massage treatments, private yoga sessions on the sun deck and exclusive Cave Dinners in natural volcanic formations. Cultural and experiential workshops: photography, salsa dancing, Ecuadorian food and culinary workshops, and naturalist-guided stargazing. Island land adventures and extensions: horseback excursions across highland estates, private VIP land transfers, stays at luxury private villas on Santa Cruz, Isabela or San Cristóbal, and mainland cultural estates or Amazon rainforest lodges.

Question 7

What specialized gear should be packed for a Galapagos expedition charter?

Accepted Answer

Shore landings range from dry basaltic lava walks to wet beach landings via yacht tender, so we recommend broken-in trail shoes or technical water sandals and lightweight, moisture-wicking sun apparel (UPF 50+). Your Private Yacht Charter carries complete snorkeling and water sports equipment custom-fitted for your party, and during the cooler marine season (June to November) 3mm to 5mm full wetsuits are provided for extended snorkeling or diving sessions.

Question 8

How close do guests get to the wildlife, and what rules apply?

Accepted Answer

Because Galapagos wildlife evolved in isolation from land predators, animals show no fear of humans, allowing remarkably intimate encounters with giant tortoises, blue-footed boobies, marine iguanas, sea lion pups, green sea turtles and abundant marine fauna. To preserve the sanctuary, all shore excursions and aquatic activities are led by your private certified guide, who briefs you on Galapagos National Park rules on arrival: keep the required two-meter (six-foot) distance from wildlife and stay strictly on designated trails.

Question 9

Why is booking with a local Yacht Charter Operator essential?

Accepted Answer

Whether booking directly or through an international yacht broker, local destination experts based in the Galapagos ensure flawless execution, transparent charter terms and direct operational oversight. As destination specialists based in San Cristóbal and Santa Cruz, Galapagos Luxury Charters brings firsthand knowledge of the archipelago, direct relationships with yacht owners, real-time local coordination and signature activities not available through other operators. For international charter brokers, family offices and direct clients, we provide destination intelligence, white-label logistics and continuous on-the-ground supervision from arrival to departure.
